W & D Recycling was founded by Wayne and Diana Zabodyn of El Campo, Texas, in April 1995.
Wayne grew up in the family business as a teenager, and eventually developed his own business into what it is today. It was a family affair; just like Wayne learned the business from his father, all of our children have also worked in the business at one time or another – not only learning about the recycling business but also about the value of hard work.
This year marks our 30th anniversary serving our loyal customers in both Jackson County and Matagorda County. It has been a pleasure getting to know and serve the surrounding communities for all scrap metal recycling needs in Bay City and previously in Edna, which has been out of operation for several years.
After Wayne’s passing in September 2020, I continued to run and operate the business. I appreciate and am thankful for all of my employees over the years including my children - Clint and Brandon (who still helps with consulting today) - who worked during the summer months when they went to high school, to all of our hard working employees who worked in the back of the yard and also to my truck drivers, for their many hours on the road. I especially want to thank my nephew, Lance, who has been with us for many years and who now manages the front office and was a tremendous help when Wayne was sick. Many of our employees have been with us from almost the beginning - again, thank you!
At this time in my life, I have made the decision to sell the business operations and retire. It has not the same without Wayne, and while I have tried to continue on without him, it's now time for a change. My family fully supports my decision, and I am looking forward to what the next chapter of my life has to offer me.
I wish the new owners (NexGen Recycling) best wishes in the future, and I hope you will continue to utilize them for all of your scrap metal recycling. I am confident that we are leaving our operation and our family’s legacy in great hands.
We promise this will be a smooth transition and the operation will remain open during this process. I will be available if you need anything and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
W & D Recycling LLC
